Beh come si possono sconfiggere gli Estranei e alla fine chi sale sul trono. Se uno dei Big5 muore nella serie...possiamo pensare ed esserne certi che nei prossimi due libri allora moriranno...io comunque, come diceva Metamorfo, in TWOW martin se vuole un minimo rimediare dovrebbe svelare il più possibile e lasciare così nell'ultimo libro la "sola" narrazione degli eventi finali...

Secondo me ben poco si salva di AFFC e ADWD. Lo stile è molto più descrittivo, è vero, e a me dà la sensazione che descriva tanto cose inutili per riempire spazio. Per me solo pochi POV si salvano e trovo la trama sostanzialmente noiosa. Io li ho percepiti così e rispetto ai primi tre mi hanno deluso parecchio. Questo non vuol dire che non li leggo con piacere, tutt'altro, ma solo che dopo tutto quel tempo passato a scriverli mi sarei aspettato molto di più da uno come Martin e vorrei che gli ultimi due (o più) ritornino all'altezza dei primi tre

(anche se mi domando con quale spirito uno scrittore possa scrivere il libro finale di una saga piena di misteri e domande, quando i misteri e le domande di quel libro e il finale hanno già trovato risposta in tv).

È inutile leggere cose come "il traguardo è lo stesso ma il percorso è diverso, ecc ecc".

Martin sa che i lettori fedeli non lo abbandoneranno e aspetteranno sicuramente con più ansia il suo libro rispetto all'ultima stagione...alcuni sicuramente neanche la guarderanno ma IMHO, come scrittore, è un enorme fallimento.

Secondo me ci metterà il triplo del tempo per questo motivo.

In generale penso che ADWD sia leggermente inferiore alla media di ASOIAF, ma questo a causa dei capitoli di Daenerys, Tyrion e Arya (dove effettivamente l'impressione era quella del brodo allungato), perché invece la parte ambientata al Nord l'ho trovata fantastica, e in particolare reputo i capitoli di Reek i vertici finora raggiunti dalla saga. Reek è un personaggio che a me ha ricordato i protagonisti sciagurati dei romanzi di Dostoevski.

 

Penso che gli ultimi due libri siano un po' bistrattati dai fan per due motivi:

- sono usciti dopo anni di attesa, e le aspettative erano alle stelle;

- sono usciti dopo ASOS, che come ritmo e colpi di scena forse rimarrà forse inarrivabile. Anche se spero di essere smentito da Martin, temo che neanche il gran finale potrà essere al livello dei due matrimoni o del duello per decidere la sorte di Tyrion.

LOST ending: Jets in the Superbowl?

Imagine you're watching the Super Bowl. Jets vs. Dallas! You've anticipated this game for months, listened to all the press conferences, got excited and you have great seats to the game. Somewhere around halftime the game gets delayed because of weather...

But something funny happens during the delay - the scoreboard keeps updating with the future results of the game. Every touchdown, every penalty.

By the time the delays are over and the 3rd quarter is under way, the scoreboard already has the final score of the game. Dallas wins 28 - 21. Now you can sit there and see how it gets to that score, but isn't your experience tainted? If you know all the major twists and turns in the game, how can you really enjoy it? Change months of anticipation in this scenario to 20 years for some and I think the disappointment is clear.

Realize I'm derailing but there's never a good place to vent your frustrations about the shows passing the book and apparently no one working together to prevent it.

This whole scenario will be remembered in a derogatory way. Similar to how people fear that a show will have a "LOST ending", authors will now joke about trying to avoid a "GAME OF THRONES ending" where the readers get screwed and the author's story gets told essentially through fan fiction (which you ironically don't allow!).

I don't think you quite grasp what 'fan fiction' is or why I object to it. GAME OF THRONES is a licensed adaptation.

Mr Martin, I know you already said you wouldn't let someone else finish your books, but have you considered hiring a ghost writer to help you with the slow (boring?) parts of writing?

You could write what happens in a straightforward style and have them embellishing the text. For instance, you'd write "Tyrion kills a dragon with his axe" and he/she would translate that into "It's a cold winter night. The fiery beast lusts for blood. Tyrion, however - the braveest imp ever - lusts for life. He raises his arms, his weapon, his fury! He won't meet r'hllor without fighting! ... etc etc etc...

Not trying to tell you how to run your business here, just wondering if this "solution" ever occurred to you, as it seems you did something similar for the HBO show (gave them some sort of outline for the whole series).

Arya é il personaggio preferito della moglie e gli ha chiesto di farla arrivare fino all'ultimo libro! Direi che è quella più al sicuro dalle vendette di Martin contro i fan più accaniti

Comunque mi sa che deve essere frustrante dover leggere centinaia di queste mail. Certo, sicuramente se lo aspettava, e il lettore che c'é in lui certo capisce, ma non deve essere piacevole comunque. Un pó come quelli che gli ricordavano etá e forma fisica

I know the new season of GAME OF THRONES is at hand, but that doesn't mean every comment thread should be taken over by posts about the series, or the books, or "spoilers," or whatever.

 

If you want to talk about the TV show, there are many fine places on the net to do that. Ditto if you want to talk about the books. I would especially recommend Westeros and Tower of the Hand.
