Giorgione nostro ha postato un altro capitolo di TWOW. Non è nuovo, finora lo ha letto alle convention, ma mai pubblicato.

Inoltre aggiunge sullo stato di scrittura di TWOW:

Monkey is still on my back... but he's growing, he is, and one day...

Capitolo.

POV: Arianne. Ho sghignazzato al: 'You want to know what the Sand Snakes, Prince Doran, Areo Hotah, Ellaria Sand, Darkstar, and the rest will be up to in WINDS OF WINTER? Quite a lot, actually.'

Okay, messaggio ricevuto

@moderatori: spero vada bene, altrimenti cancello!

@DracoTargaryen

Because sometimes it's good to be reminded of the fact that, while plenty of authors have taken longer writing books, Ice & Fire fans were absolutely right to feel angry about being strung along and question whether it was truly unintentional.

The following doesn't include the countless (literally hundreds) of posts across the internet by Adam Whitehead (a.k.a. Werthead) from 2006-2009 wherein he presented himself as someone whose knowledge of the situation made his anticipated release windows during these years reliable.

Red text used for emphasis. The green text indicates quotes taken from this post on the NAB in which Martin outlines his progress on Dance after the fact. They are interspersed with the information we were being given -- at the time -- about the state of the book from George himself on the NAB and elsewhere.

=====================================

"As for me, I am getting back to work. There's good news on that front too -- A DANCE WITH DRAGONS is half-done!!!"
- May 29, 2005, formerly http://www.georgerrmartin.com/done.html (page taken down)

"Tyrion, Jon, Dany, Stannis and Melisandre, Davos Seaworth, and all the rest of the characters you love or love to hate will be along next year (I devoutly hope)..."
- June 2005, published at the end of A Feast for Crows (October 2005, UK)

"The earliest partial in my files dates from January 2006. At that point I had 542 finished pages."

"And no, I am NOT going to forget about A DANCE WITH DRAGONS. That's still my number one priority, and will remain so until it's done."
- March 7, 2006, http://grrm.livejournal.com/3152.html

"Meanwhile, for those who do read this page... yes, I am still working on A DANCE WITH DRAGONS, and yes, I still hope to deliver it this fall, or by the end of the year at the latest."
- June 30, 2006, http://grrm.livejournal.com/4101.html

"I have half a dozen different projects on my plate, but the big one is A DANCE WITH DRAGONS, and I am going to be pushing hard on that in the weeks and months to come, in hopes of wrapping it up by the end of the year."
- October 17, 2006, http://grrm.livejournal.com/7598.html

"Right now I'm trying to finish A DANCE WITH DRAGONS"
- November 5, 2006, http://grrm.livejournal.com/7831.html

"A year ago, it would never have dawned on me that DANCE would not be done by the time the Japanese worldcon rolled around, but that's looking like a very real possibility now. Much as I might want to, I just can't take off for a month of Asian travel with the book undone. I have to finish if it kills me... "
- June 25, 2007, http://grrm.livejournal.com/16723.html

The implication here is that there's a possibility that he will get it done before the Japanese worldcon, or that missing it would have made some sort of appreciable difference to Dance's completion.

"The next partial I sent to Bantam is dated October 2007, and it is 472 pages long. Yes, in the year and a half between the two partials, I had managed to UNwrite some seventy pages. I was doing a lot more revision and rewriting -- and restructuring -- during this period than I was making forward progress."

"I am not a big believer in New Year resolutions, but I do have some goals for 2008, both personal and professional, and the most urgent of those remains A DANCE WITH DRAGONS."
- December 31, 2007, http://grrm.livejournal.com/28996.html

"If you'd like to get in the queue to snag a copy of the illustrated DANCE, it is never too late to drop by the SubPress website and place your order."
- March 5, 2008, http://grrm.livejournal.com/39629.html

A September 30, 2008, release date was being floated around at this time. Amazon picked up on it, but note that this NAB entry is not about Amazon happening to have a release date in its system and taking preorders. This is Martin actually directing people to preorder ADwD in 2008 from one of his business partners.

"In March 2008 I delivered another partial, and this one was 596 pages long."

"If I can deliver the book before the end of June, you'll see these in your favorite bookstore sometime this fall."
- March 17, 2008, http://grrm.livejournal.com/40964.html

"Anyway, I'm back now, and not going anywhere until late June, when I will be taking off on my long-anticipated trip to Ireland, Portugal, and Spain... Of course, I need to finish A DANCE WITH DRAGONS before I leave, or else my publishers will hunt me down and kill me. So that's pretty much all I'll be doing between now and then."
- April 13, 2008, http://grrm.livejournal.com/42593.html

"In May 2008, another: 684 pages this time."

"Now all I need to do is wrap up WARRIORS and SUICIDE KINGS and... yes... A DANCE WITH DRAGONS, and maybe I'll be able to take a week off."
- December 8, 2008, http://grrm.livejournal.com/61805.html

"In December 2008, 774 pages"

"I am trying to finish the book by June. I think I can do that. If I do, A DANCE WITH DRAGONS will likely be published in September or October."
- February 19, 2009, http://grrm.livejournal.com/74995.html

"I'm feeling rather jazzed right now, and for the first time in a very long while, I think I can see a glimmering that might just be a light at the end of the tunnel."
- June 22, 2009, http://grrm.livejournal.com/92848.html

June 22, 2009, is also the first time I could find him mentioning the Meereenese Knot on the Not-A-Blog, meaning the narrative about what happened with Dance diverges here. Most Martin supporters like to pretend every implication Martin made prior to this that Dance was just a few months from completion didn't happen and that only here in June 2009 had he begun seeing the "light at the end of the tunnel."

"It is going pretty well actually, I am hoping to finish it by September or October that is my goal."
- July 27, 2009, http://www.freemagazine.fi/interview-wi ... rr-martin/

"In September 2009, I sent them 998 pages."

BONUS: Shawn Speakman (Martin confidant, unofficial spokesman for Bantam Spectra, and publishing industry expert)
Anne also thinks she’ll be getting the book by October or November, which to her would probably make it a February or March 2010 release, although the progress he is making is quickly happening and she could receive it sooner if those incomplete or mostly complete chapters come together faster."
-Fall 2009, formerly http://forums.terrybrooks.net/PostView. ... 41&page=17 (page taken down)

"'nuff said."
- January 29, 2010, http://grrm.livejournal.com/130165.html

The impact here isn't obvious anymore, but Martin originally posted this with a picture of the A Dance with Dragons cover next to the post, leading a number of fans to believe the book had been completed (which can be deduced from the comments and in his ensuing blog entry). Ironically enough, Martin states "When I finish DANCE, you'll know it. I will write something like this: 'I have finished A DANCE WITH DRAGONS.' You won't need to parse any hints." Yet, when he actually finished the book he merely posted a picture of King Kong at the foot of the World Trade Center, then berated fans for being too stupid to get the message.

"In January 2010 I passed the 1000 pages mark, and delivered 1038 pages."

"(((Soon)))."
- April 15, 2010, http://grrm.livejournal.com/149075.html

"June of 2010, a partial of 1028 pages."

BONUS: Anne Groell (Martin's editor)
"...as I sit here knowing how close A Dance with Dragons is to delivery, I am once again filled with a rush of genuine fan-girl excitement. Like the Starks, I too now have a motto. Only mine is: “The new book is coming!” And it always feels like spring.”
- June 22, 2010, http://suvudu.com/2010/06/25-years-of-s ... artin.html

"August of 2010, 1332 pages"

BONUS: Anne Groell (Martin's editor)
"We're hoping to have a finished manuscript by Christmas. He's told me he has five chapters left and bits of each chapter are done. He really wants it done by the end of the year. We really -- I mean really -- want to announce the pub date in January."
- October 10, 2010, http://io9.com/5660273/george-rr-martin ... lmost-done

"December of 2010, 1412 pages"

"By March of 2011, Kong was screeching and the biplanes were in the air, and I sent in the final partial, which weighed in at 1571 pages... but I still had some incomplete chapters, some that remained very rough, some that I didn't know whether to include or not. It was those that pushed the final count over 1600 and up near 1700 before the editorial changes..."

APRIL 27, 2011 - Martin reveals no more material will be written for A Dance with Dragons via a picture of King Kong dead at he foot of the World Trade Center.

JULY 12, 2011 - A Dance with Dragons officially published.
